From 21.11. until 20.12.2020 the stylish Advent.Markt with traditional stands amid a festive atmosphere takes place in Altenmarkt.
The Advent.Tour leads through the resort past the Dechantshoftenne, which forms the “Centrepiece.Tenne” in the Advent.Time, offering Altenmarkt shops and craftsmen a stage for exhibitions.
The idyllic mountain lake, over which the mystical Zauchesee Mountain.Advent takes place, lies at an altitude of 1,350 m: it fascinates visitors on 7th, 11th, 18th and 25th December 2020 with magical light installations and classic musical sounds. www.altenmarkt-zauchensee.at
Christmas Idyll at the foot of the Bischofsmütze in Filzmoos
At the foot of the Bischofsmütze and far away from the hustle and bustle, the magical “Filzmoos Christmas Idyll“ invites you to reflective hours. The Hofalms with the picturesque Almsee Lake are located in unspoilt alpine pasture area, which can be reached on foot (walking time: approx. 1 hour), by taxi shuttle or by horse-drawn sleigh. Visitors can wander from the Hofalm to the Almsee Lake along a cleared circular path lined with torches and little huts. Along the circular path you’ll find a life-size nativity scene, a giant silhouette, brass music, traditonal devils, mulled wine, punch, kids’ tea and other surprises.
The “Filzmoos Christmas Idyll“ takes place from the end of November until the end of December. NEW in Filzmoos are the Advent walk with numerous stations through the village and the Christmas Market in the village square from Friday to Sunday from 4th to 27th December. www.filzmoos.at.
TV filming of „Magical Christmas in the land of Silent Night“
At the end of November, the Flachauer Gutshof is once again venue for the filming of successful and popular TV-Christmas show “Magical Christmas in the land of Silent Night”. Sonja Weissensteiner and DJ Ötzi present this year in the heart of the scenic mountain world an Advent evening from Salzburger Land, where the carol “Silent Night, Holy Night“ was written.
The focus this year is on the quiet and reflective Christmas period, national and international artists perform folk music, popular and classical melodies around the themed around Christmas, peace and love.
The filming takes place on 29th and 30th November 2020 in the Flachauer Gutshof, the show is will be aired on 19th December on ORF and BR.
Radstadt Christmas Walks on three dates
The reflective Christmas walks counts amongst the highlights in Advent in Radstadt. On three dates you walk at dusk along the torchlit Kaiser Promenade: in the Loretokirche brass music awaits visitors, at the mini-arena scary but wonderful fairy-tales are read and in the gorge by the Lärchenbach stream you’ll be delighted by music amongst the rocks. In addition, free Advent punch is served, you listen to the quartet’s songs and walk along the longest Advent calendar in Europe. In the “Silent Night“ resort of Wagrain on the trail of the world-famous carol
Vicar Joseph Mohr lived in Wagrain-Kleinarl for eleven years – from 1837 until his death on the 4th December 1848. The native-born Salzburger composed the lyrics of the carol “Silent Night! Holy Night“. In the Silent Night Museum in the Pflegerschlössl, his social commitment, but also the Christmas and peace song “Silent Night! Holy Night!“ are acclaimed.
The message of peace which the carol “Silent Night, Holy Night“ conveys, is also at the centre of the cultural project “Silent Night Wagrain-Kleinarl“, which combines openness and tradition.
Highlights of the Silent Night Advent: a visit to the “Silent Night Museum“ at the Pflegerschlössl and the “Waggerl Haus Museum“, cultural walk and the Advent Market on the 28th November, 5th,12th, and 19th December, etc.
Torchlit walks in Eben
On Wednesdays in December 2020 from 5:00 pm, you meet up with walking guide Andreas, to wander along the magical moor path with the whole family to the light of torches. To finish off you can warm your hands on the open fire, drink punch and listen to exciting stories from bygone years. www.eben.at
The Light Advent 2020 on the road in St. Johann
A cool programme for kids, Advent concerts and stylish light installations make eyes shine this year. Not as market in the park, but on the road in St. Johann. On the four Advent Saturdays, St. Johann presents itself in a special light.
