The Salzburger Sportwelt is known and loved for its varied winter sports activities in the heart of the Ski amadé. Yet away from the 760 kilometres of pistes there’s lots going on in the holiday resorts of Flachau, Wagrain-Kleinarl, St. Johann, Radstadt, Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, Eben and Filzmoos in winter 2020/21. Alternative winter sports such as tobogganing, backcountry skiing and biathlon can also be tried and tested as well as the trend sport of ice swimming in Zauchensee. The ZDF quiz show “1,2 or 3“ is coming to the Salzburger Sportwelt plus the German celebrity chef Nelson Müller, who’ll spoil guests in alpine culinary style.
“Panorama Link“- cable car opens up a new dimension
The Panorama Link Cable Car is the realisation of a long-standing vision in the heart of the Ski amadé. Along a length of over 3 kilometres, the ultra-modern cable car connects the ski areas of Flachau, Wagrain, St. Johann, Kleinarl Flachauwinkl and Zauchensee at an altitude of 1,800 m. Winter sports enthusiasts can thus enjoy a total of 210 connected kilometres of pistes stretching over twelve peaks and five valleys. With the opening of this cable car in winter 2020/21, a new ski circuit for winter sports enthusiasts is created: the “12 Peaks Trophy“ is 91.5 kilometres long and guarantees 10,000 vertical metres of pure downhill pleasure. It can be conquered in one, two or several days. With it the Salzburger Sportwelt becomes one of the most varied ski areas in the Alps.
In the seven winter sports resorts of the Salzburger Sportwelt Advent is still celebrated in a traditional fashion: nativity plays, winter walks, Christmas markets and ancient customs stoke the anticipation of the upcoming festival. Whilst during the daytime you whizz down the well-prepared Ski amadé slopes in the resorts of Flachau, Wagrain-Kleinarl, St. Johann, Radstadt, Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, Ebenand Filzmoos, in the evening hours you can enjoy the magic of the pre-Christmas period: with Pongau delicacies and familiar sounds amid a wintery backdrop. The winter season starts at the beginning of December 2020.
