So much fun and skiing action awaits you and your kids in this skier’s paradise

Today, I'm taking you on a varied, fast-paced ski tour with spectacular views in the Zauchensee-Flachauwinkl ski paradise. Jump into your ski boots, fasten your skis, and let's go!

I park my car in the World Cup Arena garage, where it is protected from the cold, wind, and weather while I enjoy the slopes. With my ski pass, I can validate my parking ticket at the main ticket office in the World Cup Arena and park for free.

Action, gates and a touch of World Cup fever

From the World Cup arena, I board the Gamskogelbahn I, which, incidentally, starts operating at 8:00 a.m. – as do Highliner I and II in Flachauwinkl, if you want to enter the ski area from the other side of the valley (all other lifts start at 8:30 a.m.).

My first stop takes me to the Skimovie Parallel Slalom on the Gamskogel. With the Gamskogelbahn I and the Seekarlift, I quickly reach the start. I activate the stopwatch and video recording in the start house with my ski pass – and then I'm off! Next to me is the other track, in front of me are the gates, and in my head is that little World Cup moment.

I automatically receive my race time and race video in my myPeaks ski diary – including timekeeping, but without commentary. 😄

I take the Gamskogelbahn II cable car back up to the summit to tackle my next goal: the Funslope on the Gamskogel, right next to World Cup slope 5. It never ceases to amaze me how the top FIS athletes race down here for the World Cup downhill! It was only in January 2026 that the international Audi FIS Ski World Cup returned to Zauchensee, with none other than Lindsey Vonn crowned the winner of the downhill race. The next World Cup races will take place in January 2028.

I always have a lot of fun on the Funslope. I think it's perfect for practising your safety skills on one or two boards.

An extra dose of skiing fun

Today I feel good, so it's on to the next challenge: the Skimovie giant slalom on the Kogelalm. I enjoy the crisp World Cup run back down to the valley and take the Rosskopfbahn cable car to get to the start of the Skimovie run. Here, too, I start the Skimovie with my ski pass and enjoy more turns – and another video for my myPeaks gallery. 🤩

Oh yes: you can also reach the Skimovie giant slalom with the Highliner II and Kogelalmlift.
After the racing feeling, I feel like doing something playful. That takes me to the Family Park on the Rosskopf: here I shred, I own the jibs, stashes and kickers – and I'm glad that the three 10-year-olds who are also at the start cheer me on and don't judge me.

Whether on skis or a snowboard, the Family Park is the ideal place to try out new things safely, without pressure, but with plenty of motivation.

After skiing down the beautiful trails back towards Zauchensee, I take the Gamskogelbahn I and II lifts to ski down the World Cup trail. Because shared joy is double joy, I stop at the Gamskogel photo point first. Mountain panorama, Zauchi and me – click. 📸I download the selfie with the snowman from my myPeaks ski diary account and send it to my work colleagues. 😊

A short break for big emotions

Every now and then, they catch my eye: the love hearts at the mountain stations of the Rosskopfbahn and Gamskogelbahn II cable cars. A quick stop to attach your love lock, two happy faces, an unforgettable moment. These little details make your day’s skiing extra special – especially when you're out and about with your favourite person. :)

Family time and first turns

What I particularly like about Zauchensee-Flachauwinkl is that there is so much on offer for families. Not only are there perfectly groomed slopes, a variety of blue and red runs and Ski & Fun offers, but above all there are family-friendly day and multi-day ski passes that are easy on the wallet. What's particularly cool is that Ski Minis (children born in 2020 or later) ski for free in the 2025/26 ski season.

Speaking of mini skiers: Zauchi's Kinderland in the valley is a real highlight for your little ones. With a magic carpet, snow carousel, kids' run, practice lift and nursery slope, ski and snowboard beginners will find the perfect introduction here. And while the kids enjoy their first experiences on skis and snowboards, parents can relax and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere.

Ski moments to remember and share

In the evening, I sit on the sofa at home, tired but happy, and review the day's skiing on my smartphone.

I registered my ski pass in the myPeaks ski diary and can now view all my skiing data for the day – kilometres skied, lifts, altitude metres and more. I received the analysis by email.

In my myPeaks profile, I also find a gallery with my photos from the Zauchi Photopoints and race videos from the Skimovie tracks. I share the best shots directly with family and friends and upload them to Instagram.

When you open your myPeaks ski diary, you can participate in the 12 Peaks Trophy Black and the 5 Peaks Touring Trophy with just one click via your profile.
You can find out more about the challenges here:
12 Peaks Trophy Black - Can you conquer 12 peaks and 10,000 metres in altitude from Zauchensee to Altenmarkt in one day?
5 Peaks Touring Trophy - Can you achieve the most altitude metres in the season?

My conclusion

For me, Zauchensee-Flachauwinkl is the perfect mix of sport, family fun and heart-warming moments. Whether you want to get a taste of racing, test your skiing and snowboarding skills or enjoy special skiing days with your family, you'll find everything your skier’s heart desires here.

See you soon in Zauchensee-Flachauwinkl! Maybe we'll see you at the next Skimovie Run! 😉
