Rock the trail!

All about the new bike route from Altenmarkt to the Kemahdhöhe reservoir

The choice is yours: e-biking, gentle cycling, mountain biking or road biking, a wide range of mountain bike tours, flowing trails, cool downhill tracks and pleasurable e-bike routes. If you still don't know that biking is as much a part of SalzburgerLand and the Altenmarkt-Zauchensee region in particular as the mountains, lakes, Silent Night and Mozart chocolates, you can experience it all for yourself when you discover the new alpine trail from Altenmarkt up to the Kemahdhöhe and back. The new trail really pushes every biker in a particularly interesting way and also makes dreams come true on two wheels.

What do bikers dream of? Let's be honest! For you as a ‘real’ biker, you don't need more than a bike and a trail to be happy. Nevertheless, I've put together a list of dreams that you should fulfil on your two-wheeler. My ultimate bucket list for bikers includes: slowing down, escaping the hectic pace of everyday life and enjoying relaxation and exercise in nature. Finally, experience the adrenaline rush that comes from the unique combination of experiencing nature and sporting challenges. The sport of biking has long since ceased to be a trend; it now appeals to all age groups and fitness levels.

But enough with the preamble. Let's finally set off to experience the new trail. Where? In Altenmarkt at the Altenmarkt-Zauchensee Tourist Office. From here it's initially on tarmac and gravel to Radstadt. The route initially remains relaxed on a leisurely, flat stretch along the edge of the forest and past flowering meadows and fields. After around seven kilometres, the surface changes to a gravel forest road. The path winds gently upwards - up to the highlight of the tour, the Kemahdhöhe at 1,547 metres, the highest point of the tour.

Once you reach your destination, a magnificent panorama opens up: the view sweeps over the Lackenkogel, to the Dachstein and the reservoir - a view that will stay in your memory.
From here it's downhill again - with a really nice flow back to Altenmarkt.
The Königslehen circular trail offers everything a varied bike tour needs: a relaxed start, a sporty ascent and impressive natural scenery.
No wonder many bike fans say: this circular route has real potential to become a favourite trail.
