With its three ski areas in the heart of the Salzburger Sportwelt, Flachau is one of the largest and most varied winter sports regions in the whole of Austria. Here I find everything my skier's heart desires. Slopes for beginners, advanced skiers and pros, the largest snow park in Europe, family runs, freeride areas and much more.
So that I can experience all of this, I prefer to start very early in the morning to be the first on the piste. That way, I can enjoy the fresh, ice-cold morning air, have the pistes all to myself and have the whole day ahead of me to discover 210 kilometres of pistes over 12 peaks and 5 valleys!
After a loooooong day on the piste, it's time for me to unwind. There are plenty of winter hiking trails in Flachau that are perfect for a leisurely stroll through the snow-covered, enchanting winter forest. Once at the top, I can stop off at one of the many mountain huts and round off the evening with a good meal of genuine Austrian mountain hut specialities.
But the best comes at the end, because our floodlit natural toboggan runs really get going in the evening! Simply rent a toboggan from the hut owners and then it's time for me and my besties to whizz round the bends at full speed until we're in tears from the wind in our eyes and the laughter!
This time I'm not going up the mountain on the lift, but on skis. Skis on, skins on, let's go! The ski tour to the Mooskopf in the Shuttleberg Flachauwinkl-Kleinarl ski area is the perfect place to start. This well-signposted, and above all, safe piste tour takes me and my friends to the highest vantage point, from where we can enjoy a breathtaking mountain panorama.
If you also believe that every bucket list should include a portion of fast-paced action and thrills, then our Alpine rollercoaster is the right place for you! The ride on rails begins with a steep ascent, followed by a series of bends, jumps and waves.
In Flachau, every day is more exciting than the next. After many wonderful experiences, it's time to look back on the moments we've shared and enjoy the good things in life things in life - eating, drinking, laughing, dancing!
