Fire brigades meet winter sports: the Firefighter Winter Days Flachau celebrate their premiere

With the Firefighter Winter Days Flachau, we have created a new highlight in Snow Space Salzburg together with the World Cup resort of Flachau , which is all about volunteering - and perfectly combines sport, fun and team spirit. As a new event platform for fire brigades from all over Austria, the weekend creates a unique mix of winter sports and comradely competition. The setting couldn't be better: Right in the heart of Snow Space Salzburg, on World Cup-proven terrain, people come together to exchange sporting blows - and to celebrate among like-minded people. Whether it's the tactical downhill race, the hose line advancement cup or the convivial finale: team spirit, fairness and the joy of togetherness are what count here. The competitions are not only exciting and challenging, but also a lot of fun - and great prizes on top! At the same time, they offer the perfect opportunity to make new contacts and look beyond your own fire service teams.

On Saturday morning, it was off to the Hermann Maier FIS World Cup course - not at full throttle, however, but with tactics: in the downhill race, the participants had to estimate their own running time as accurately as possible in comparison to the reference time presented by skiing legend Hermann Maier. The best time tipsters:
Klaus Krallinger (Fire Brigade Lungötz) with a difference of only 0.09 seconds in the individual classification
Saalfelden Fire Brigade with an overall team time difference of 4.32 seconds

The official cup followed in the afternoon, in which 12 teams competed against each other in the classic competition mode. Real teamwork was required here. The Hollersbach fire brigade came out on top, followed by the Lungötz and Oberbairing fire brigades.

The weekend was rounded off with the prize giving ceremony at the Flachauer Gutshof, where not only trophies were awarded, but also plenty of recognition. Music, good humour and a great get-together made the evening unforgettable - a worthy conclusion to an event that put the spotlight on volunteering.
