A fluffy shopping experience at the AlpakaAlm Valley Shop in Wagrain

Alpaca fans take note - are you in love with the soft fur of these fluffy animals too? Then you should definitely read on! Since December 2024, there has been a special address in Wagrain for all those who love high-quality natural products: the AlpakaAlm Valley Shop on the market square. Here, everything revolves around the fluffy four-legged friends and the fine wool that comes from keeping them. The valley shop invites you to browse, touch and discover - a little piece of closeness to nature in the centre of Wagrain.

The Kitzsteingut is located at over 1,300 metres above sea level in Wagrain and offers ideal conditions for alpaca breeding thanks to its alpine location. Bernhard Maurer, who runs the farm, has created a special experience with his alpacas. To bring a piece of the AlpakaAlm to the centre of Wagrain, the AlpakaAlm valley shop was opened directly on the market square in December 2024. If you don't have the opportunity to visit the AlpakaAlm itself, you can still purchase the high-quality alpaca wool products here. The lovingly designed interior with natural materials and warm wooden elements creates a relaxed atmosphere that conveys the feeling of being right on the alpine pasture.

There is a wide selection of handmade products made from alpaca wool on sale in the valley shop. The wool comes directly from the alpacas at the AlpakaAlm and is processed in the farm's own wool factory. Great emphasis is placed on sustainability and the highest quality. Alpaca wool not only impresses with its exceptional softness, but also with its special properties: it is warmer than sheep's wool, hypoallergenic and particularly light.

Just like the AlpakaAlm itself, the farm’s valley shop focusses on sustainable production and regionality. The wool is washed directly on the farm and processed without chemical additives. The entire supply chain remains transparent and traceable. The transport routes are also short, which further minimises the ecological footprint.

The combination of tradition and modernity is particularly noteworthy. The alpaca wool is processed using tried and tested craft methods, while sustainable production is supported by modern technology, such as the use of photovoltaics and the farm's own spring.

Whether it's a cosy scarf for cold winter days or a fluffy blanket for cosy evenings - the high-quality alpaca products are ideal gifts for friends and family. If you are interested, you can book an alpaca hike with a guided tour of the wool factory and a visit to the farm shop when you visit the AlpakaAlm. During a short hike with the alpacas, you can get to know the animals and their nature. Afterwards, you will walk through the farm to the woollen mill, where you will gain an insight into the processing process from the raw wool to the finished hat. Guided tours of the farm with a walk always on Fridays at 14:00 or special dates for groups on request.
