30th Anniversary of Salzburg Harvest Festival: The celebrations in and around Radstadt 🍂🌾
You can feel it in the air: the days are getting shorter, the colourful leaves are falling from the trees and nature is showing itself at its most beautiful once again. Late summer also marks the start of the unofficial fifth season in SalzburgerLand – the Bauernherbst (Harvest Festival).
On the 23rd August 2025, the official opening of the 30th Salzburg Harvest Festival was celebrated in Dorfgastein. A festival that has been keeping our customs alive for three decades, cultivating traditions and making the joy of life in our countryside tangible.
Harvest Festival in Radstadt, Altenmarkt, Filzmoos & Forstau 🍂
Between the 8th and 23rd September 2025, the resorts of Radstadt, Altenmarkt, Filzmoos and Forstau were transformed into a colourful festival region. Guests and locals alike enjoyed a varied programme full of crafts, culinary delights and folk music – in keeping with this year's motto, ‘G'sunga und G'spielt’ (singing and playing).
The ‘Bauernhofroas’ was particularly popular: small, delightful farm festivals where you ‘roam’ from farm to farm – visiting a different host every day, with regional delicacies, authentic folk music and a cosy atmosphere.
Highlights in the anniversary year 🍂
Cattle drive & farm festival at the Untersulzberghof 🍂
A special highlight was the cattle drive on the 13th September 2025, which finally took place again after a two-year break. At around 12 noon, the magnificently decorated cows and calves belonging to the farmers from the Untersulzberghof and Gschwendthof farms paraded through the historic town centre of Radstadt. The 80 magnificently decorated animals created a colourful scene in the old town, where the entire route from Judenbühel to the post office was packed with spectators – many of whom had travelled there especially for this event. The animals were accompanied by a group of whipcrackers, an impressive bull hay figure and lively musicians. Afterwards, the Untersulzberghof farm invited guests to a large farm festival where they could enjoy regional delicacies. Folk music, whip-cracking groups and a small farmers' market rounded off the event. For the younger guests, there was a large play area provided by the toy shop, Spielwaren Oppeneiger.
An anniversary to remember 🍂
Harvest Festival 2025 impressively demonstrated why it has been a success story for 30 years. With a lot of passion, regional craftsmanship, culinary delights and authentic folk music, the anniversary became an unforgettable celebration for locals and guests alike.
We are already looking forward to the next Harvest Festival in Radstadt and the surrounding area – when it will be time once again to celebrate together, experience tradition and enjoy the fifth season.
PS: If you still haven't had enough of Harvest Festival, here's a tip for you 😉.
Every Friday, Radstadt hosts its weekly market, which sells fresh fruit, vegetables, schnapps and juices, bread and pastries, sausages, cheese products, woven baskets, fish, flowers, soaps and ointments, and much more.
