Between a sea of blossoms & wedding bells

Don't worry, this is not a new reality show from the makers of "Say Yes to the Dress". One thing in common: they contribute to the most beautiful day in the life of a couple.There are so many important things to take care of as a bride and groom before the wedding. Thank goodness there are people who love to take over some of these tasks. Johanna Springer from Wagrain is one of them - and she does it with pure passion.Even as a child, Johanna knew exactly what she wanted to do in the future. " I am probably one of the few people who chose their profession as a child. You could say I always wanted to be a florist. I have always been interested in flowers and plants and I'm still fascinated by how they grow and how versatile the plant world is," she says.
At the age of 19, Johanna helped a friend with her wedding decorations for the first time - and the idea was born to start her own business in this field. After her master's degree in floristry, the dream of becoming a self-employed wedding florist finally became a reality. She loves working at home and being her own boss. However, according to her husband, she is often too hard on herself. The trust of her customers in her work is the greatest confirmation for her that she is doing her job right. And in my opinion, she definitely does! Even though she was very shy and insecure during her apprenticeship at the age of 15, she wouldn’t have missed this chapter in her life for the world. In the future, because she is interested in many different things, she would like to learn more about them.
"Anyone who has anything to do with creative people knows it's not always easy :-) I still take a photo of the socket every night before I leave the workshop to be sure that I have unplugged everything. I also check the wedding dates very often because I'm often afraid of forgetting a wedding, that would be an absolute nightmare," Johanna says. I had to laugh, I could see myself in it very well.
But what does it take to decorate the big day with this dreamlike flower magic? For Johanna, it is very important that she matches the flowers exactly to the bride and groom. The wedding should look exactly the way the couple wants it to. Johanna sweeps aside any worries about whether the guests will like the decorations; - because for her, the wishes of the bride and groom are her top priority. Of course, she has also developed a floral signature, so she is only contacted by customers who like this style. "That's exactly what I was aiming for," the master florist is pleased to say.
Of course, Johanna also keeps up with the latest trends. These mostly come from America and also influence the European market - did you know that? Currently, colours like sand, cream, white and mint green are very popular. When someone says that these colours are boring, then the florist has clearly done something wrong! :) When giving advice, she likes to recommend colours that suit the season. "I try to be a pacifist, also when it comes to plants. That's why everything that grows is welcome. Even the so-called "weeds" can have their charm," laughs Johanna.

I wondered how much time such a flower decoration, including planning, would take. Johanna explained that it is not possible to make a general statement. She has already spent three days on small weddings with 25 guests, but also only two days on a huge wedding with 300 people. It all depends on the wishes and ideas of the bride and groom.She usually takes an hour for the initial meeting; she doesn’t charge for all phone calls and emails in between. "Inspiration doesn't come when you want it to, it just appears, in daily life, and that's what I love about it."
