7 things, you should experience in summer in the Salzburger Sportwelt

At last! After a long and snow-filled winter my favourite time of year – summer – is just around the corner! I personally just love travelling and am always looking out for new and interesting countries and special places to visit – and a very special place my world traveller’s heart was able to explore from an early age, is in fact my home – the Salzburger Pongau. Here are 7 things that make the Salzburger Sportwelt so special for me and therefore should feature on your to-do list:

Time for an adrenalin boost - mountain go-karting in Flachau

You’re a person with “zest for life” and you don’t want to miss out on an adventure whilst on holiday? Then you should head for Flachau. On the mountain cart tour you head up wards comfortably on the bus, where a short introduction awaits your group.  Whilst the first run down is somewhat gentle, as the guide explains all the key passages, you can thereafter determine your speed yourself and whizz down the run to the valley at a faster pace. Once back down in the valley a number of other exciting fun sports await you – it’s worth taking a look at the online activity planner.

  • Guided tour, takes place daily in the summer high season (also on rainy days, with special rain protection)
  • Price: € 39,00 per person
  • Booking required; either using the online activity planner, at the Sports and Activity Centre or directly with the organiser Sport am Jet, tel. +43 (0) 6457 2090

As in addition to traditional live music a wealth of regional, culinary delicacies await visitors – mhhhh!

Now it`s getting colourful: The 29 Arts & Crafts Market in Radstadt

The Radstadt Arts & Crafts Market counts amongst one of the most important arts & crafts markets in Austria and entices numerous artisans, handicraft experts and designers to the historic old town every year on the first weekend in September. In addition to a colourful selection of unique handicrafts made of glass, wool, felt and wooden you’ll also find imaginative and original street theatre, walking acts, ring games and a variety of street musicians. A great tip, therefore, for all those looking for inspiration, entertainment and good food!

Where your holiday "tastes" best: culinary get-togethers in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee

Last year as part of our colleauges’ get-together we ourselves took part in the culinary walk, and I can therefore personally recommend the culinary get-togethers in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee. Incorporated into a gentle walk through the town or a speedy e-bike tour in Altenmarkt’s mountains, you not only get to know the resort from all sides, but you can also look forward to tasty starters, main courses and desserts at the different refreshment stops along the way. And who knows, sometimes at (culinary) get-togethers, new acquaintances or even friends can be found.
