Snowboarding and skiing in Salzburgerland
The Salzburger Sportwelt offers the perfect base for freestylers and freeriders to practise their passion. Cruising and carving down the many varied pistes makes the classic downhill slopes real fun, as in addition to plenty of space the hilly runs offer above all a varied playground with numerous lumps and bumps around the edges.
The heart of the Austrian freestyle scene beats in the Absolut Park. There is, in the true sense of the word, everything you could wish for – at least where park elements and their variety are concerned. From a super pipe, normal pipe, 5x kicker line, from earth forms for experts to a beginner’s line, the terrain park to rail lines and a chill house, where an indoor boulder course and mini skate ramp await, the area on the Flachauwinkl side is composed of mostly adjoining park runs. Those fit for more freestyle after a few runs, do not have to look far for good snow parks in the World World of Freestyle and Freeride. One of these parks awaits in St. Johann-Alpendorf, right by the Panoramabahn lift II/Hirschkogelbahn lift. The collective experience of the Betterpark-Team spanning a decade is reflected in the perfectly balanced set-up for all ability levels. The 700 m long park offers with its over 30 elements and a “chill-area“ at the end of the park, the perfect potential for an unforgettable day in the park. Further information available here:
Those looking for a quieter park experience are in the right place in Eben. Far away from the larger park areas a compact snow park awaits by the Topolino II lift. The perfect spot to try out your first snow park stunts or to simply enjoy a few rails and kickers without any hustle and bustle. The park is ideal for the “next generation“, those who want to get a feel airtime and slide moves in Eben with their parents or friends. Further information available here:
In the World of Freestyle and Freeride the music definitely plays for all freeriders away from the secured pistes. Due to the varying terrain and the mostly rocky underground, backcountry excursions are also possible when there’s not much snow and offer a breathtaking natural experience. Those wishing to savour unforgettable runs near the pistes don’t have to look any further than Zauchensee.
Information about backcountry guided tours available here at these ski schools.
